Well...

Just started week 3 of INSANITY! which involves retaking the FitTest.  I did better in 6 out of 8, stayed the same in one and somehow did worse in 1.  It was the first test and I think the problem is that I knew the pain that would follow during the next 7 tests, so I took it down a notch.

Not sure about the weight thing since I keep forgetting to weigh myself until after I eat, but I do feel MUCH better.

Going to get out on the bike tomorrow, it will be to nice to stay inside.

Only 3 more night shifts after this one. YEA!

Be seeing you

It is a start

week 1 weigh in:

207.8 and 30% BF

That is a loss of 1.4 lbs (meh) and 4% BF (Yea!)

Need to work on eating better this week, doing Ok so far.  Just need to stay away from the evil that is Plant Chemistry!  They tie you down and force you to eat junk.  Rally they do.  Just ask Laurel.

Lets try something

Here is my bike ride, yes, outside!,  today.

and here is my Cardio and Plyometric workout from yesterday.

So, if you go to view details and look at just the HR you can see that the bike ride got me up to 70% and I stayed there until I was cooling down at around the 42 min. point (short ride).

But, the INSANITY! workout does just about what it says, fairly intense intervals, thus the variable HR.  Yes I can feel it.

That said, I REALLY like riding my bike more than hopping around in my basement, but for a late spring way to lose weight, I will stick with the INSANITY! untill done.

I am planing for my first bike race June 3rd  so I got to keep on the bike also.  Looking at INSANITY! 3 or 4 days a week and Biking 3 days a week.  As time permits.

Be seeing you!

Goals for this INSANITY! thing:  lose 20 lbs and 14% body fat.  I have not weighed 190 in MANY years.

INSANITY!!!

Wow, it has been a while and because I plan to take this blog public, I'll get you caught up.

Since my last post, I have ridden my bike some, then it got cold so I got a trainer and rode it in my garage.  I LOVE riding and plan on racing this year so that will not stop.

I also did some erging, but really like the bike more so that has turned into more of a cross training thing.

Since the beginning of the year I really have not done much and was feeling (and looking) out of shape and fat.  Since the beginning of February I have been working nights so working out was easy to talk myself out of doing.

So a couple of weeks ago I was watching TV at 3 a.m. on my night off and saw the infomercial for the INSANITY! workout.  Let's see f I can imbed a video.

This is how it has gone so far.

Starting stats:  weight 209.2, body fat 34%!  that is a LOT.

Day 1:  Fit test.  HOLY CRAP!  I just about blew chunks.  Lots of jumping and squating.  The program has you do this every 2 weeks, I am NOT looking forward to this, but it has to get easier.  Right?

Day 2: Plyometric Cardio Circuit:  HARD!  I had my HRM on and saw 90% max HR a few times during the workout when my eyes could actually focus.  The program is based on hard 3.5 min on 30 sec. off intervals.  He (Shaun T.  the evil leader) gets going way to fast some times, so I have to slow down and focus on keeping my form ok.

Day 3: Took a day off and walked with Stephanie.  Everything was sore and I could not raise my arms above my head. A day off seemed like the smart thing to do.

Day 4 (today): Cardio Power and Resistance:  This actually went ok. As before he gets going to fast and I just do my best to follow along.  It felt much better, and I feel fine 11 hours later.  Saw HR at 80% most of the time which is just about right.

Tomorrow is Cario Recovery - Yea!

Overall I think I will be ok as long as I listen to my body.  I have not changed my eating this week, still too much and too much junk, but next week I will start eating better.

Initial Impressions:
1.  The "Warm-up" is way to intense.  I have to take a break after the warm-up since my HR is around 90% max. I have started doing a Pre-warm-up warm-up on the erg so I don't hurt anything.
2. As I mentioned he gets going to fast and it easy to lose form.  This again could lead to injury.  I have 57 more days, I am sure I'll build speed in that time.
3. It is HARD, but I feel that it will give me the results I am looking for.

With the time change this weekend, I want to start riding my bike some also, will mix that in as time allows.  In a perfect world, I would do the Insanity in the morning and ride after work.  Maybe once I am back on day shift.

I'll keep you all updated.  Wish me luck.

Be seeing you.
